They can also assist you by recommending a nearby school with an excellent pass rate and evaluating whether you qualify for a GARDNER Scholarship, which will cover a significant portion of your upfront mandatory pre-licensing costs, post-licensing Fast Start Training, and other various start-up costs. We have broken down the necessary steps to successfully attain your Louisiana Real Estate Salesperson’s license below.
To get started, you must meet the Louisiana Real Estate Commission (LREC) Salesperson’s base requirements, which are as follows:
If you meet the above LREC base requirements, you are ready to choose a Louisiana State Certified Real Estate Pre-Licensing School. You essentially have two learning options:
Once you complete the 90 hours of pre-licensing education, you will submit your license application to the the State of Louisiana. Once your application is on file, you can then contact PSI Examination Services to schedule your test.
An optional step at this time is to attend an Exam Prep Course through a Pre-Licensing School or attend GARDNER’s Exam Cram.
You are now ready to take the Salesperson exam, which consists of the following two sections:
Each of these two sections is graded separately. You need to pass both with a score of 70% or better and submit the Pass Report to the LREC in order to attain your license.
Once you pass both sections of the exam, you are ready to be sponsored by a licensed Real Estate Broker such as GARDNER, REALTORS. You will need to provide proof of your errors and omissions insurance to the LREC before your license will be issued to your sponsoring Broker.
*If you have real estate credits from your College/University coursework, you can send a written request, along with an original transcript, to the Louisiana Real Estate Commission for review toward the salesperson pre-licensing education requirements.
