Important Notice Regarding Changes to Indiana Law concerning professional corporations for licensed occupations:
Starting January 1st, 2018, pursuant to House Enrolled Act 1308, new laws concerning professional corporation licensing will go into effect. Please be advised this change affects any licensed professional seeking to files articles of incorporation with the Secretary of State.
House Enrolled Act 1308 eliminates the requirement for licensed professionals to apply for a certificate of registration from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency before filing articles of incorporation. Prior to this change in law, a licensed professional was required to apply and pay a fee to the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency to receive a certification of registration verifying the licensee was a professional in good standing before filing articles of incorporation with the Secretary of State.
As of January 1 st , 2018, this provision is repealed. A licensee does not need to apply for or renew a certificate of registration from the IPLA before filing articles of incorporation with the Secretary of State’s office.
This streamlined process allows the licensed professional to work directly with the Secretary of State to obtain proper registration and maintenance for a professional corporation.
Licensees are asked to work directly with the Secretary of State’s office for any additional questions regarding a certificate of incorporation for a professional corporation.
