Some declare winter the worst time of year for home sales. But for many states we are entering the best and busiest months of the year.
After analyzing selling trends for the average number of days on market, and the ratio of listing price to final sales price, we found that the fall was the best time to sell a home in nearly half the states across the U.S.
When there are fewer homes for sale, buyers tend to compete over listings, which can lead to higher offers and less time on market. Additionally, we are seeing that many vacation and warmer weather markets are at an advantage in the fall and winter.
The biggest shocker, of course, is that spring is Delaware is the only state that shows a spring month—May—as the best time of year to sell!
